A message from Ingrid

Summer has arrived at Getnö, and the season is now in full swing.

We are happy to welcome guests again from many different places and see them enjoying the nature, tranquillity and outdoor life that make Getnö so special.

Behind the scenes, our Getnö team of 2026 has completed its training days and is ready for the months ahead. Together we look forward to creating memorable experiences and sharing our beautiful corner of Småland with our guests.

Midsummer is just around the corner, one of Sweden’s most cherished celebrations. It marks the true beginning of summer and is always a special moment to share with our guests through traditions, music, dancing and time spent together outdoors.

This year we are also excited to introduce several new experiences. Among them are our a new Guided Boat Tour in the National Park, Getnö’s Little Rangers Club for young explorers, and ÅsnenBakelsen, a locally inspired seasonal pastry available every Sunday at Getnö Lantcafé.

In this newsletter, we are happy to share more about these new additions, along with other highlights and inspiration for the season ahead.

We wish you a wonderful summer and hope to welcome you to Getnö soon!

This season’s highligths & news

ÅsnenBakelsen

This season, a new local flavour has arrived at Getnö Lantcafé. Created in collaboration with Louise Karlsson, finalist in Hela Sverige Bakar 2025, ÅsnenBakelsen is inspired by the landscapes, seasons and local ingredients of the Åsnen region.

Throughout the year, the pastry changes with the seasons, with one unique version for spring, summer, autumn and winter. A delicious way to experience the flavours of the moment.

If you are visiting Getnö on a Sunday, we warmly invite you to stop by for a cup of coffee and a slice of Åsnen-inspired fika by the shores of Lake Åsnen.

🕒 Sundays, 14:00–18:00
📍 Getnö Lantcafé, Getnö Gård, S-362 96 Ryd, Småland

Newly Renovated Service House

We are pleased to share that the renovation of several showers and toilets has now been completed. The result is beautiful and offers more privacy, comfort and practical space for our guests. We are very happy with the outcome and look forward to welcoming you this season.

Getnö’s Little Rangers Club

Young explorers now have their very own nature adventure at Getnö. Equipped with a discovery booklet, binoculars, a magnifying glass and a compass, children can explore the area, solve nature challenges, complete fun activities and learn about the wildlife around Lake Åsnen. A playful outdoor experience for curious young adventurers.
In the Adventure Forest, we have marked 9 different stations along the trail. Along the way, children will encounter Learning Stations, Doing Stations and Discover Stations, each designed to spark curiosity, encourage exploration and deepen their connection with nature.

ÅsnenGuiderna celebrates 10 years

This year marks the 10th anniversary of ÅsnenGuiderna. Over the past decade, our team of professional nature and fishing guides has had the privilege of introducing thousands of guests to the wildlife, landscapes and waters of the Åsnen area. We look back with great pride and gratitude on all the memorable encounters and experiences shared in nature.

At the same time, we are excited about the future. This season, we have expanded our programme with several new guided experiences, including our new Guided Boat Tour in Åsnen National Park. We look forward to welcoming both new and returning guests for many more years of nature adventures.
The new guided experiences will be launched later this season.

NEW: Guided Boat Tour in Åsnen National Park

Have you ever wanted to experience true silence on the water?

Join an experienced nature guide and step aboard our boat to explore the heart of Åsnen National Park. We navigate through the unique lake archipelago, gliding between islands while keeping an eye out for birds and wildlife along the way.

Here, nature reveals itself up close. The call of the black-throated diver may echo across the water, sea eagles may circle above, and with a bit of luck we might even spot one of Småland’s most elusive residents, the otter. This is Åsnen at its purest: still, vast, and deeply alive.

During the tour, your guide shares stories about the national park, its wildlife and landscapes, shaped by water, forest and time. On board, we enjoy traditional Småland fika, and later step ashore on one of the islands to share a freshly prepared Getnö lunch around the fire.

The journey takes us through the very core of the park, Aspöarna, Bergön and Bjurkärr, where we slow down and let the rhythm of nature set the pace.

A safe and atmospheric boat experience, where every moment feels real, grounded and connected to nature.

The Guided Boat Tour in Åsnen National Park will be available later this season.
Season: August – September
Duration: 4 hours (09:00–13:00)
Includes: Guided boat tour, experienced nature guide, life jackets, binoculars, Småland fika on board, and Getnö’s outdoor lunch
Small group experience: 3–5 participants (recommended for ages 7 and up)

Our certified nature guide Ingrid E-M Olsson speaks fluent Swedish, German and English.

Nature reflections

Nature’s gentle summer teachings

Summer reveals nature at its fullest. The long light-filled days, warm evenings and abundance of life invite us to slow down and be present. To sit by the water, feel the sun on your skin, listen to the sounds of nature and appreciate what is already here. Summer reminds us that richness is often found not in doing more, but in noticing more.

From the shores of Lake Åsnen, a subtle invitation: slow down, step outside, and make space for the simple moments that summer offers so generously. Enjoy it fully!
