◊  Getnö Season 2026

A message from Ingrid

The deep winter is now behind us, and what a beautiful one it was. This year we were treated to generous snowfall, not only lasting for a long time but also forming a wonderfully thick blanket over the landscape. Everything seemed to slow down. The lake froze over, creating a rare and special opportunity to experience Lake Åsnen in a completely different way. Of course, we took the chance to head out onto the ice ourselves and enjoy some ice fishing.

As winter gives way to spring, it’s time for us to shift gears. Behind the scenes we are fully preparing for the new season: recruiting our summer team, managing the growing number of bookings, carrying out maintenance and upgrades on camping pitches and cottages. And of course finishing the big renovation of one of our service buildings. It’s turning out beautifully and will be a great improvement for our guests.

At the same time, we are fine-tuning our existing activities and guides, and developing some exciting new ones as well. We will keep you updated through our website and Instagram.

We’re already looking forward to warmly welcoming you again this year!

This season’s highligths & news

Spring is slowly waking up at Getnö

This time of year is very much an in-between phase. In Sweden, this period has its own name: vårvinter, literally translated as “spring winter”. The first signs and feelings of spring slowly appear, yet there are still days with unmistakable wintery elements.

What we certainly embrace is the increasing daylight and the welcome moments of sunshine. Being at Getnö during this time of year is especially lovely for those seeking silence and tranquility. Our cottages are open all year round, giving you the opportunity to enjoy nature and quietly observe the subtle seasonal changes.

Our remote and secluded natural setting offers the perfect place to step away from everyday life, slow down and reconnect. Beautiful hiking trails await you, and for an extra moment of relaxation we can place our mobile sauna right next to your cottage or by the lake.

Which animals did we spot during winter?

Winter is beautiful, but for some of the wildlife on the island it can also be a challenging season, especially when it comes to finding food. That’s why we always lend a helping hand during the colder months. Every day we fed the deer, and at one point we counted 26 them. They quickly learned the routine and started showing up right on time for dinner.

We were also lucky to spot three moose, two adults and one calf. An otter left its tracks along the snowy shoreline, and we even found footprints of a lynx. Now the birds are slowly making their way back. The cranes have already arrived, which is always a wonderful sign of the changing season.

Unique new guided boat tour + new products in the making

Experience the ultimate nature adventure on Lake Åsnen!

We are happy to announce that we have developed a new guided boat tour! Glide through the lake’s unique archipelago with an experienced local guide, spot wildlife up close, and enjoy the peace and silence of the surroundings. Step ashore for a cozy lunch, savor traditional Småland treats, and let nature soothe your soul. This 4-hour tour is available from June to September and offers a genuine escape in every moment. More information will be available online soon!

At the same time, we are working on two other exciting experiences for you:
Getnö’s Little Rangers Club: a self-guided adventure for children as part of our Nature School.
Getnö’s Forest Bathing Trail: a self-guided, mindful nature immersion experience.
More information about these new activities will be published on our website
before the season starts and in our upcoming summer newsletter.

Nature reflections

Nature’s gentle spring teachings

Spring awakens quietly, yet with unmistakable energy. The ice melts, the birds return, and the first green shoots push through the earth, reminding us that growth often begins in small, almost unseen ways.

At Getnö, as the days lengthen and the waters shimmer under soft sunlight, nature invites us to embrace renewal: to gently let go of what no longer serves us, to welcome new possibilities, and to step gently into change. Just as the lake reflects the sky above, spring mirrors our own potential for curiosity, exploration, and movement.

Spring reflects that beginnings need patience, showing that beginnings need time, that life is cyclical, and that even the smallest moments, a morning mist over the water, a delicate budding flower, a bird’s song, hold lessons of resilience, hope, and joy.

From the shores of Lake Åsnen, a subtle invitation: open your senses, notice the small awakenings, and let spring inspire you to move forward with mindful intention.
